Lake County Plan Commission - Special Public Meeting - Aug 27, 2026
The county is establishing a TIF district at the I-65 and State Road 2 interchange to capture future tax growth and fund water, sewer, and road improvements over 25 years. After public pushback, the district was trimmed by about 880 acres and two areas were excluded, including the historic Gipsy Cemetery. It still needs county council and commissioner approval.
